Universal’s action thriller adventure movie ‘Furious 7’ Drives Past Billion-Dollar Mark to Become Universal’s Biggest Movie Ever.

With total global grosses estimated at $1.009 billion through Friday, “Furious 7” has earned an estimated $735.2 million overseas in 17 days and an estimated $273.7 million in North America after 15 days.

The latest horror thriller “Unfriended” has scared up $656,000 in 2,019 theaters in the U.S. in Thursday night shows and scored $16.5 million on Day 1, while Sony’s comedy “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2″ has launched with $22 million domestically at 3,600 locations.

The digital-age chiller was produced for just $1 million by Blumhouse Productions — marking another profitable collaboration between Universal and the horror label following  “The Purge” series and “Ouija.”
