Luc Besson Teams With Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne for Sci-Fi Epic 'Valerian'

Luc Besson Teams With Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne for Sci-Fi Epic 'Valerian' based on the graphic novel.

Valerian will see the French filmmaker write and direct the film, with his wife, Virginie Besson Silla, producing for Besson’s EuropaCorp banner, which will finance, produce and distribute.

"DeHaan is set to play the titular character, a space and time-traveling agent from a futuristic Earth, with Delevingne starring as his red-haired companion, Laureline."

With his action-thriller Lucy having smashed all expectations, earning in excess of $450 million last year, Luc Besson is ready for his next sci-fi thriller directorial project.

The graphic novel — set in the 28th Century — was created by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres in 1967 and has since sold over 10 million copies in 21 languages. Production is set to begin in December with a global release planned for the summer of 2017.

Besson broke the news Tuesday via Twitter in his first ever tweet. Checkout Besson's tweet with the teaser poster/logo below!

"My first tweet ever! Let’s share a real news! My next film is a big sci-fi: #Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets."
Starring @danedehaan & @Caradelevingne. Shooting in December. In theaters 2017."
